Awoman tagged as a leader of a group of suspected con artists was arrested while she was allegedly about to victimize a churchgoer in Cebu City Wednesday afternoon. Police said Mylene Mandawe Villomo, 43, a resident of barangay Pooc, Talisay City, was the same person who allegedly duped the aunt of Supt. Paul Labra II, intelligence chief of the Police Regional Office in Centeal Visayas, in October last year. The police officers aunt, Amelita Gacayan, 67, lost cash and jewelry worth P100,000 in the incident. In Wednesday’s  incident, Villomo allegedly tried to swindle Rosalia Javier Kintanar, a resident of barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City. Police said Villomo tried to convince Kintanar to surrender her shoulder bag in exchange for a bag purportedly full of cash. Police said a commotion occurred when the suspects grabbed the Kintanar’s bag containing cash, jewelry and cell phones amounting to at least P500,000. Policemen who happened to be at the Redemptorist Church noticed the commotion and rushed to help the victim. Villomo’s two companions escaped with the victim’s bag. Senior Insp. Elisandro Quijano, chief of the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office, said three alleged victims identified Villomo as the one who previously duped them.
