CEBU EXECUTIVES and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca) veteran wood pusher Jun Kidlat emerged victorious in the Cepca monthly finals tournament held last Sunday at the Knight Attack Chess Café.
Kidlat ended in a three-way tie with Joe Atillo and Eddie Flores with 4.0 points after the five-round Swiss system competition. Kidlat, though, had a higher tie break score of 15 points to secure the top spot. Atillo had 13 to place second and Flores had 11 for third place.
Kidlat won over Jeremy Bajo in the opening round, John Velarde in the second round and Tony Barade in the third round. He added another win in the fourth against Ronald Arnado but lost to Atillo in the final round.
