IT WAS a day to remember for thousands of students of the Sisters of Mary School (SMS) Boystown and SMS Girlstown who competed in their first fun run organized by Olympian Mary Joy Tabal and John Philip Dueñas at their campus in Tungkop, Minglanilla.

Richard Orozco won the 10-kilometer JPD Coaching Fun Run inside the school campus. Jovanie Quijano and Jan Terence Salvoro finished second and third, respectively.

Completing the Top 10 runners in the category for students 15-above were Dennis Gantalao, Roybel Tagem, Sumile Tetso, Keynart Danao, Jay Mark Oria, Klent Jan Penooy and Judy Seberre.

Reggie Norte reigned in the boys 5K with Gerimie Coringal and Jahn Moire Dizon as runners-up. Ninora Buhat won the girls division followed by Irish Mae Mirallo and Cristelyn Armonio. The 5K race was for kids 14-Under.

The Top 100 finishers in the 10K were invited to join the Summer Fun Run: Family Run presented by Pocari Sweat at the Cebu Business Park today.

Tabal and Dueñas have been handling running clinics at the SMS Boystown and Girlstown as part of the sports clinic training project initiated by University of the Visayas scouting coach Van Halen Parmis.
