Lawyer Liza Corro became the first Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Cebu (UP Cebu) after her official inauguration was held yesterday at the university’s Performing Arts Hall in Barangay Lahug in Cebu City.

Corro had been the dean for UP Cebu since 2012, and was elevated as the Chancellor of the university right after the campus was declared as a constituent university last October 27, 2016.

She is also the 8th Chancellor for the UP System.
Assuming the post as UP Cebu’s Chancellor, Corro said that the university would have representation and authority.

UP Cebu is the youngest constituent unit in the UP system and the oldest campus outside Luzon.
It was established in May 3, 1918 as a regional unit for UP Manila.

Those who attended yesterday’s investiture included Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III, Cebu City Councilor Mary Ann delos Santos, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, Consul General of South Korea to Cebu Oh Song Yung, Honorary Consul to the Netherlands in Cebu Gordon Alan Joseph, Department of Science and Technology Central Visayas Director Edilberto Paradelo, and representatives from the Armed Forces Philippines.
