Public school officials will undergo training to ensure the strict implementation of the comprehensive policy on tobacco control, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).
In a statement, DepEd said the training program would follow a manual that was drafted last March by health officers, program specialists and writers from the department’s offices in Calabarzon, Central Luzon and the National Capital Region.
The training will involve principals and members of the child protection committee (CPC) created in all public schools nationwide to ensure the strict implementation of DepEd Order No. 48 that was issued last year.
The department order laid out the guidelines on the enforcement of tobacco control policies in schools and offices.
The order highlights the protection against any tobacco industry’s interference, “or the broad array of tactics and strategies utilized by the tobacco industry to influence or interfere with the setting and implementation of tobacco control policies.”
