RANDOM INSPECTIONS

NETIZENS’ reactions were mixed over the random inspections conducted by police in Central Visayas in the wake of President Rodrigo Duterte’s martial law declaration in Mindanao on Tuesday due to the Marawi City siege of the Maute terror group.

One netizen wrote all vehicles should be included, whether public or private transportation including vans and cargos.

“Apil unta tanan dile ky motor ra. Cargo, vans, van-for-hire ug jeepney para segurado jud (All of them should be inspected. Cargo trucks, vans-for-hire and jeepneys to be sure),” Richard Lada said.

Marco Chavez said, “Ships and ferries should also be included since Cebu has lots of ports and is surrounded by water.”

Leo Sarnales said inspections should not be announced to avoid giving advance warning to terrorists and criminals.
