SEVERE PUNISHMENT

Netizens are in shock over the untimely death of Bien Unido, Bohol, Mayor Gisela Boniel — all because of a marital conflict that turned into a gruesome crime.

Netizens directed their anger towards her husband, Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Boniel, now accused of killing his wife and throwing her body into the sea.

One netizen, Maxilo Morales, wrote, “(H)er husband should also be thrown into the sea for plotting such (a) crime. He does not deserve to live!”

Another netizen, Isadora Maide, said the husband should be punished. “(…) nang bana grabe gi labay pa jud sa dagat ka wala jud intawn boot. Angay niya severe na punishment.”

Elros Sophia wrote, “Mag multo ra to iyang lawas kung dili ma kita, nya maytag multohon ug maau iyang bana para ma konsinsya jud.” (Her soul will never find rest if her body will not be found. I hope she will haunt her husband.)

Friends of the couple claimed the Boniels started having marital problems in December last year when her husband learned that she bought on credit a watch worth P2.5 million. The husband, who was the former mayor of Bien Unido, allegedly got angrier when he learned that she decided to file for annulment after she discovered irregularities during his term.

Police and divers have been scouring the waters off Mactan Island since June 8, but as of yesterday, they still have yet to find her body.
