A MEMBER of a fraternity was gunned down by two unidentified men riding in tandem around 7 p.m. last Friday in Sitio Guiwanon, Barangay Poblacion, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu.
Chernobyl Bejarasco, 30, was pronounced dead by an attending physician at Dalaguete District Hospital.
According to PO2 Bricel Recaborda of Dalaguete Police Station, the victim was riding a motorcycle with his mother and his child as backriders on their way home from the adjacent barangay when upon reaching the interior portion of the sitio, two motorcycle-riding men blocked their path. One of the men shot the victim, hitting the right portion of his abdomen.
The assailants immediately fled. Bejarasco’s mother and child suffered minor injuries after their motorcycle crashed as a result of the shooting.
Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene a live bullet of a 9mm pistol, an empty shell of the same gun and a deformed slug.
The police are still determining the motive of the killing.
Bejarasco’s wife told police that her husband was a drug user and had already surrendered to the police July last year through “Oplan Tokhang.”
