Citigreen jr netfest rolls off today
MORE than 200 young netters begin their chase for spots in the Citigreen Junior Tennis team that will compete in Thailand in December as the third annual Citigreen Junior Tennis Cup reels off today in Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu.
The champions in each category will gain an automatic slot in the Citigreen team which will play in the Hat Yai 100 Plus International Junior Tennis Championships in Thailand from December 9 to 14 this year.
To accommodate the number of competitors vying in the boys and girls 12-under, 14-under, 16-under, 18-under and the 8-under and 10-under unisex divisions of the four-day tournament, the organizers also tapped the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, Pardo Tennis Courts, Suson Tennis Courts and the La Paloma Tennis Courts as co-venues.
The competition aims to promote Citigreen’s mission which is to give an avenue for local tennis players to hone their skills in preparation for bigger tournaments abroad.
“The tournament really grew because of the promotion, social media and the followers of Mario (Craiz) from Cebuana (Lhuillier),” said organizer Shan Osorio at yesterday’s press conference.
The opening program starts at 8 a.m. today at Citigreen while games start in different venues at 9 a.m.
