‘The A Gym’ pugs log three wins in Cebu Amateur Boxing Revival
AMATEUR boxers from “The A Gym” won three of seven weight classes last Sunday in the fifth leg of the Cebu Amateur Boxing Revival at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
Benny Cañete, John Niño Vega and Jemwel Asocenas beat their respective foes in different weight classes in the fight card organized by the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP), the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Visayas and sponsored by ALA Boxing Gym.
Cañete topped the 52-kilogram class by beating Berland Flores of 10,000BC Boxing Gym by unanimous decision while Vega escaped the latter’s stablemate John Paul Gabunila via split decision in their 45.5kg class war. Asocenas defeated another 10,000BC pug Kenneth Delantar via unanimous decision in their 52kg duel.
Meanwhile, the Big Yellow Boxing Gym’s Lenbert Cainap and Yerodge Gura prevailed over Jake Tabanao and Jimboy Cais of the Rex Wakee Salud Boxing Gym, respectively. Gura edged Tabanao by split decision in the 45.5kg class while Cainap beat Cais by unanimous decision in the 48.5kg class.
Team Joeric Boxing’s Jimpol Dignos outclassed Clark Sanchez of The A Gym by unanimous decision in their 47kg battle while Edwardo Jimenez of CCSC beat Keyth Niño Abatayo of 10,000BC Boxing Gym by unanimous decision in the 45kg class.
The next fight card is scheduled on October 28 at the Mandaue City plaza square.
