RESSEL Pedroza was still unsure at the start of the year if she can return playing in the Cesafi volleyball tournament after leaving the University of San Carlos (USC) at the end of the 2015 season due to undisclosed reasons.

But she persevered and eventually got a spot in the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) girls team.

Pedroza, the former skipper of USC who led the Baby Warriors to its first league title in 2013 before moving to the Baby Panthers turf this season, was a huge addition to USPF as she helped the team make the F2 Logistics Cesafi girls’ volleyball tournament finals, where it is facing the Southwestern University (SWU) – Phinma. The best-of-three series is tied 1-1 with Game 3 set tomorrow at the USC Main gym.

Pedroza is celebrating her 16th birthday today and her wish is to be able to contribute to the team in any way as possible and raise the trophy in the big dance tomorrow.

“What I wish is to have the title as a champion this year. That’s already enough for me,” she said.

Pedroza’s skills were highlighted in Game 2, where she played an exceptional role scoring four consecutive points in a late 8-3 run by the Baby Panthers in the third to close out the game.

Pedroza hopes to inject that killer instinct to her teammates as they shoot for their first title since 2010.
