EXPECT more policemen in malls, terminals and other places of convergence in Cebu City as Christmas approaches.

Senior Supt. Joel Doria, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) director, said that they will be doing a 12-hour duty for the Christmas season as directed by regional director Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino.

“As per directive of our regional director (Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino), ang kapulisan natin instead of three shifts, ay two shifts na lang. From eight-hour duty magiging 12 hours na,” Doria said.

(As per directive of our regional director, our policemen will only have two shifts instead of three. So from an eight-hour duty, it will become 12 hours.)

With the new shift, Doria said there will be more police visibility on the convergence places like malls and terminals since there will be more policemen on duty.

Doria assured that the policemen in the CCPO are fit to serve 12 hours duty time.

“Twelve hours naman talaga ginagawa natin. Considering also na full alert tayo (in whole Central Visayas) we are expecting a 24 hours duty,” Doria said.

(We really have a 12-hour duty. Considering also that the whole Central Visayas is still on full alert status so we are expecting a 24-hour duty)
Doria said that the police have a 12-hour actual shift while the remaining 12 hours are for on-call duties.
