Police arrested on Monday a man accused of killing a barangay councilman from Sogod town, northern Cebu, while in hiding in his hometown in Bato town in Leyte province.

Sam Pandapatan went into hiding after he allegedly shot Damolog Councilor Roberto Abalos in March.

Senior Inspector Efren Diaz, chief of police of Sogod Police Station, said Pandapatan’s arrest was made after a monthlong surveillance.

He said that he immediately coordinated with the police in Bato, Leyte, after he received information on Pandapatan’s presence in their town.

A joint team consisting of Sogod and Bato police served a warrant for Pandapatan’s arrest issued by Judge Jerry Dicdican of Branch 25 of the Regional

Trial Court in Danao City. No bail was recommended for his murder case.
