THE PHENOMENAL tandem of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza and their supporters collectively known as AlDub Nation ruled Twitterverse this year.
Twitter Philippines officially announced yesterday the list of personalities and topics that were much talked about in 2017.
On top was Phenomenal Star Maine Mendoza (@mainedcm) who was hailed as number one in the list of “Most Tweeted Filipino Accounts” even if she deactivated her account from June to October this year.
In second place was her love team partner, Alden Richards (@aldenrichards02), followed by AlDub Nation (@aldubnation) at number 3.
In announcing its list, Twitter Philippines tweeted: “Entertainment and showiz news never fail to pique interest of Filipinos. Here’s the most Tweeted Filipino accounts this year.
Who’s your favorite?” Rounding up the top 10 were Kisses Delavin (@delavinkisses), Relationship (@ohteenquotes), Kathryn Bernardo (@bernardokath), Daniel Padilla (@imdanielpadilla), Maymay Entrata (@maymayentrata07), Elisse Joson (@elissejoson), and Vice Ganda (@vicegandako). Proving that Twitter is her realm, Mendoza ranked no. 5 in the list of the year’s Most Tweeted celebrities around the world. Topping the list is Bangtan Boys (@BTS–twt), followed by Seventeen (@pledis–17), Camila Cabello (@Camila–Cabello), Justin Bieber (@justinbieber), Mendoza, Nial Horan (@NiallOfficial), Harry Styles (@Harry–Styles), Ethan Dolan (@EthanDolan), Monsta X (@OfficialMonstaX) and Grayson Dolan (@GraysonDolan).
Of course, Twitter Philippines did not miss the country’s most-talked about love teams, with AlDub topping the list.
“We certainly could not get over our kilig from different popular love teams of 2017. Congratulations to AlDub @mainedcm @aldenrichards for being the most Tweeted love teams this year,” Twitter Philippines said.
AlDub was followed by KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), JaDine (James Reid and Nadine Lustre), LizQuen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil), and MayWard (Maymay Entrata and Edward Barbers). Comedian-host Vice Ganda, on the other hand, leads the list of “Most Followed Filipino Accounts” in the country.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, he has 10.1 million followers on Twitter.
Vice Ganda was followed by Anne Curtis-Smith (10 million), Angel Locsin (9.9 million), Kathryn Bernardo (7.8 million), Yeng Constantino (7.1 million), Bianca Gonzales Intal (6.9 million), Daniel Padilla (6.6 million), Relationship (6.6 million), Myx Philippines (6.3 million), and Lucky Manzano (5.8 million).
Of course, Twitter Philippines did not miss the country’s most-talked about love teams, with AlDub topping the list.

The Most Tweeted Moments are as follows (in order): Push Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, Miss Universe, #DTBY Pilot Episode, BTS Concert in Manila, #LaLunaSangre Pilot Week, UAAP Season 80, Marawi Conflict, AlDubNation Festival, and ASEAN Summit Week.
The film “My Ex and Whys” which was starred by Soberano and Gil also leads the list of “Most Tweeted Filipino Movies” followed by “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” “Loving in Tandem,” “Kita Kita,” “Love You To The Stars and Back,” “100 Tula Para Kay Stella,” “I’m Drunk, I Love You,” “Last Night,” “Finally Found Someone,” and “The Ghost Bride.” Bernardo and Padilla’s primetimes series, “La Luna Sangre” ranked first in the list of Most Tweeted Teleseryes,” followed by AlDub’s “Destined To Be Yours,” “Wild Flower,” “A Love to Last,” “The Good Son,” “Ang Probinsyano,” “Pusong Ligaw,” “My Dear Heart.” “The Better Half,” and “Ikaw lang ang Iibigin.” For the “Most Tweeted Hashtags in the Philippines,” #KCAPinoyStar was first on the list, followed by #NadineLustre, #MissUniverse, #PushAwardsMaywards, #PushAwardsKathniels, #LizaSoberano, #NBAFinals, #StarMagicBallFanFave, #BTSWingsTourinManila, and #ExordiumManila.
