Metro Manila Film Festival 2017: Haunted Forest, Ang Larawan

IF YOU want to watch something scary this Christmas, then the film “Haunted Forest” is for you. Directed by Ian Loreños, it is the only horror flick out of eight official entries for Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) which will kick off on December 25.

Produced by Regal Entertainment Inc., “Haunted Forest” stars Jon Lucas, Jameson Blake, Maris Racal, Jane Oineza, Joey Marquez, Jerald Napoles, and Raymart Santiago.

The story revolves around Aris (Santiago), his daughter Nica (Oineza) and the mystery behind missing women because of a dark creature called “sitsit.” Oineza, on her Instagram account, invited her followers and fans to watch the film, saying “Andyan na ang sitsit. Sa December 25 na.”

Ang LarawanIF PERIOD pieces and musicals are your cup of tea, put  “Ang Larawan, The Musical” on top of your list of movies to watch during MMFF.

Directed by award-winning director and stage designer Loy Arceñas, the musical drama is  a musical and drama produced by Culturtain Musical Productions Inc.

The film is topbilled by Rachel Alejandro, Joanna Ampil, Cara Manglapus, Sandino Martin, and Paulo Avelino.

Set before World War II, the story takes place in Intramuros and is about sisters Candida (Ampil) and Paula Marasigan (Alejandro), daughters of high profile painter, Don Marasigan played by Leo Rialp.

The film also features the music of Ryan Cayabyab and Philharmonic Orchestra. The musical is based on the works of National Artists Nick Joaquin and Rolando Tinio.

Alejandro announced on her Facebook that their film has received an A rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board.

“It’s UNANIMOUS!!! We are GRADED A. by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB). Mga ate, kuya, tita, tito, lolo, lola, nene, totoy, at bantay ano pa ang hinihintay n’yo? NOOD NA NGAYONG PASKO,” Alejandro said.
