To solve the growing traffic problem in their town, incumbent Minglanilla mayor Elanito Dela Peña announced their local government’s plans to prohibit vehicles from parking on major roads and highways, otherwise, they will be towed or clamped.

Dela Peña, along with representatives from the Talisay City Government and other stakeholders, was summoned by Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III in a meeting at the Capitol to address complaints of traffic congestion in south Metro Cebu.

“We will coordinate with Talisay City to solve the issue. We also planned to remove vehicles parking along highways and maybe major roads, and draft a MOA (memorandum of agreement) to hire a private towing firm to tow them,” said Dela Peña.

Dela Peña added that they are also open to clamp vehicles, too, aside from towing them but it has to be passed in an ordinance through Minglanilla’s municipal council.

The mayor also said as of now, they have not hired any towing or clamping services from the private sector.
