CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT Jose Mario Espino wants sanctions imposed on Toledo City policemen who abandoned their post late on Sunday afternoon and left the gates of their police station locked.

Espino said a three-day suspension will be imposed on those who will found responsible for the offense.

Senior Supt. Edgar Alan Okubo made a surprise inspection of the Toledo City Police Station on Sunday and found that its gate was locked while only one policeman was on duty.

Okubo was made to wait for at least 30 minutes before he was able to finally enter the police station.

Superintendent Milbert Esguerra, the Deputy Provincial Director for Operations, said Okubo already directed the Provincial Investigation Detective Management Branch (IDMB) to investigate erring Toledo City policemen.

While investigation was ongoing, SPO4 Henry Acosta, the police station’s chief clerk, who was the highest ranking officer on duty on Sunday, was ordered relieved from his post.

Cebu Daily News tried but failed to reach station commander Superintendent Anthony Bagarinao for comment.
