THE University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers earned the top seed heading to the semifinals of the SM – NBTC Cebu League after they clobbered bitter rivals SHS – Ateneo de Cebu, 78-66, on Saturday at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

The Baby Lancers grabbed hold of the lead with strong performances in the middle periods where they outhustled the Magis Eagles, 42-26, to head to the fourth period on top, 55-41.

The high-leaping Joshua Yerro led UV in scoring with 11 points while JJ Rosete and reserve guard Prince Tano managed 10 markers apiece.
The win allowed UV to claim a sweep of the single round-robin elimination round with a 5-0 win-loss mark while Ateneo de Cebu fell to 4-1.

Ateneo de Cebu got 17 points from the returning Kirby Bersaluna while Franz Diaz pitched in 12.

The University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors also claimed the final ticket to the semis with a 94-53 rout of Abellana National School.
Willie Allosada put up 18, Garrick Bande added 14 while Francis Inso had 11 to help USC improve their record to 2-3, good enough to get the fourth seed.

The semis on February 17 at the Mandaue Sports Complex would see UV taking on USC while Ateneo de Cebu faces off versus Don Bosco.

The finals will be held the following day at the Talisay Sports Complex.
