MACTAN Doctors’ Hospital (MDH) continues to grow as they are set to construct their new Medical Arts Building this year in response to the growing population, tourism, and healthcare demand on the island.

The construction of the said Medical Arts Building is the first of the three-phase expansion project MDH is eyeing to complete in a span of two years.

“The first marching order I gave since I took over as president of Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospitals was to tell the doctors and staff ‘Please do not allow the patient to cross the bridge, let them stay here in Mactan island’. So what I’m doing by saying that is to make Mactan Doctors’ Hospital very complete that people don’t have to cross the bridge anymore to other hospitals to seek healthcare. We will make it very complete yet very affordable, that’s why I guarantee them,” said Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospital President and Chairman Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Medical Arts building last March 10 at the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital grounds.

MDH’s Medical Arts Building is designed to offer more spaces for the hospital’s growing number of doctors. Aside from this structure, MDH’s three-phase expansion project includes the building of a new two-level structure which will house Cebu’s first 24-hour medical concierge service and the increasing of MDH’s bed capacity from 160 to 300.

Dr. Yong who was installed as president and chairman of the board of Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospitals last August 2017, said they are eyeing for more big projects not just for MDH but also for the rest of Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospitals.

Mactan Doctors’ Hospital is one of the six-member hospitals of the Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospitals.
