The fate of the construction of the sanitary landfill and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Barangay Binaliw now lies in the hands of the Cebu City Council.

In the executive session today, the council reviewed for the second time the ARM construction’s special land permit application.

Jose Guisadio, OIC of the City Planning Department, assured the council that the proposed construction of the landfill and waste treatment facility has undergone the necessary public hearings, as specified by the prevailing city ordinance.

Other councilors also questioned the capacity of the ARM to manage the landfill.

The representative of ARM who also stands as the solid waste consultant of the project discussed the dimensions of the proposed landfill and the waste treatment process.

ARM projects to only have 2% output waste for the garbage that they will collect.
