11th Olango Challenge fires off today at Pacific Cebu Resort in Lapu-Lapu

SOME 130 swimmers will be hitting the waters fronting the Pacific Cebu Resort in Lapu-Lapu City for the 11th Olango Challenge.

The open-water swim race is organized by the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) in partnership with the Philippine Swimming, Inc. to promote the sport in the country and at the same time raise funds for education projects on Olango Island.

The proceeds of this year’s edition will be used to support the senior high school education of students on Olango Island through the provision of their laboratories.

Categories to be contested are the 1-kilometer fun, 3-kilometer competitive and fun and the 6-kilometer, also competitive and fun.

Aside from medals and trophies, winners will also get cash prizes. Freebies and gift certificates will also be raffled off.

The winners in the 6K competitive category will also get the chance to be selected to the national team for open-water swimming.
