Coming home: Paul Galinato to play for UC

By: Jonas Rey N. Panerio June 06,2018 - 09:13 PM

FRESH off his stint with the Centro Escolar University (CEU) Scorpions, Cebuano guard Paul Galinato is coming home to reinforce the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters.

Paul is the older brother of budding star, John Galinato, who is now playing for National University. He is also the son of former local standout, Abe Galinato.

“I’ve decided to come back home and play for UC because Coach Yayoy (Alcoseba) gave me a good opportunity and I think I would fit in the team because of the position and responsibilities that he will give me,” said Galinato.

“Not like when I was in Manila, where I’m too small to be a shooting guard. And I’m very comfortable playing for him because Coach Yayoy knows my father very well because he played for him in his college years,” he added.

Galinato also said that he’s slowly adjusting to his new teammates, a transition period made more manageable by the fact that he is back in his hometown after spending a few years in Manila.

“So far, it’s been good playing here in my hometown, and I’ve already adjusted with their system and still continuing to adjust every practice on how I can help the team to win.”

“I’ve been watching how my teammates play and what their strengths are inside the court so that I could adjust to their style on how they play.”

With the Webmasters’ glaring lack of a true point guard, the pressure will be on Galinato to deliver the goods for a team that came within a win away from the Cesafi crown last season.

“I will try my best to help the team win and bring back the championship for the school. The important thing is that we need to play as a team and everything will follow. Just one game at a time.”
