THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) seniors and juniors basketball teams swept the Cesafi Partner’s Cup 2018 titles after scoring victories Tuesday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Baby Lancers overhauled an 11-point deficit and bested the Organique-University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 80-65, in Game 2 to capture the juniors title earlier in the day.
In the seniors title game, the Green Lancers withstood a late rally by the M Lhuillier-University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters to escape with a 76-71 win in Game 2 and bag the crown.
Both the seniors and juniors teams of UV swept their respective title series, 2-0.
Heinrich Maestre led UV with 20 points, 13 he made in the fourth, including the go-ahead bucket with 18.3 seconds remaining.
Leandro Actub and Albert Sacayan, meanwhile, had 17 points each to lead the Baby Lancers, who trailed by as many as 11 but dominated the second half to snatch the win.
