A balut vendor was rushed to the hospital after she sustained gunshot wounds on her thigh and stomach.

Senior Insp. Alvin Llamedo, chief of the Talamban Police Station, said that Joy Nobre was selling ballot along the road in Sitio Ylaya, Barangay Talamban at past 6 p.m. on Monday when two still unidentified suspects approached her and fired shots at her direction.

Nobre was first brought to a private hospital in Barangay Talamban before she was transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Police are now looking at two angles – personnel grudge and illegal drugs – as motive in Nobre’s shooting.

Llamedo said that policemen from the Canduman Police Station in Mandaue City has placed Nobre under surveillance because of suspicions that she was using her balut business as a front for selling illegal drugs.

Sitio Ylaya is located at the boundary of Barangay Talamban, Cebu City and Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Llamedo said they are still investigating the shooting incident in order to identify the two suspects.
