Twenty-five young people from all over the Visayas came together in a campaign against human trafficking.
MTV Exit (End exploitation and trafficking), a global movement that aims to end human trafficking and exploitation, handpicked the youth ambassadors to push forward its advocacy which aims to raise awareness, promote positive behavior change and drive social action.
Partnerships Manager for the Philippines Marilen Soliman said these young ambassadors can be very powerful instruments to spread awareness since they are already quite active in their respective communities.
The 25 attended camp from June 13 to 15 and were taught about human trafficking and how they can use different forms of the arts like song, dance and drama to present to the public their knowledge on the issue.
“This is how they’re doing their share, regardless of their place of origin,” said Soliman.
The youth ambassadors in the Visayas are from the cities of Cebu, Dumaguete, Ormoc, Roxas and Tacloban.
A road-show and public outreach was held at the SM City Activity Center last Tuesday to educate the public on the global human trafficking situation.
