Gullas grandson ‘poorest’, JVR richest Talisay city official
The grandson of former congressman Eduardo Gullas, City Councilor Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III ranks the “poorest” among elected Talisay City officials with a net worth of P40,000.
In his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) Gullas said he had P40,000 cash on hand, one cell phone and a laptop.
The two gadgets were given to him as gifts, he said.
Gullas is the younger brother of Rep. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. of Cebu’s 1st district.
First-term Talisay City Mayor Johnny de Los Reyes, who made his fortune as an inventor with his top-selling canker sore drops, reported a net worth of P9.9 million.
In his SALN, Reyes said he owned one Kia Sorento, one Kia Forte, one Mazda Familia Sedan, one Starex van, one L300 Versa van, one FUSO Canter Dropside, and one Kia 4X4 Cross truck amounting to P7 million.
De los Reyes also owns five residential lots in Bulacao, Talisay City and in Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte; four commercial lots in Gaas, Balamban town; as well as a chapel and a basketball court in Balamban.
These land properties are worth P2 million. His other assets include cash in bank (P34,196); appliances (P509,500); laboratory equipment and office supplies (P600,000); furnitures and fixtures (P200,000); books, magazines, and other reading materials (P70,000); pieces of jewelry (P1.5 million); cellular phones and other communication devices (P120,000); clothings (P130,000); and cash on hand (P340,000).
De los Reyes, who’s also the treasurer of a family-owned business JVR Industries, declared bank and automobile loans worth P2.6 million.
Raul Cabanero, president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) in Talisay City, is the second richest elected official in the city with a net worth of P6.5 million.
He is followed by Talisay City Councilors Doroteo Emit (P5.7 million), Edward Alesna (P5 million), Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante (P4.1 million), Councilors Valeriano Ylanan (P3.9 million), Danilo Caballero (P3.4 million), Richard Francis Aznar (P2.3 million), Aldin Diaz (P2 million), Dennis Basillote (P1.9 million), Socrates Fernandez (P882,450), Antonio Bacaltos Jr. (P720,321), and Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III (P40,000)
Former Talisay City Mayor Fernandez failed to join the millionaires’ list.
His net worth reached close to P2 million in 2009 but it dropped in the next few years.
His assets include an Isuzu Bighorn worth P200,000, a Yamaha motorcycle (P55,000), as well as two residential lots and house in Bulacao, Talisay City (P660,450). His lone liability comes from loans amounting to P33,000.
