TWENTY bodybuilders made it to the Mr. Oxygen 2018 Bodybuilding Competition via a preliminary screening held last Sunday, December 2, at the Hardline Oxygen Fitness Gym in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City.

Nine athletes will vie for the Battle of the Champions Open Category while the remaining 11 will compete for the Novice Category.

The preliminary screening, serving as prejudging event, was facilitated by Hardline Oxygen Fitness Gym manager and event organizer, Jocelyn Nacua with the help of the International Federation of Bodybuilding- Cebu Chapter (IFBB) officers.

“We sent competition invites to varied fitness gyms across the Visayas. With that, we received lots of application for the competition. Some were even last minute applicants who were very interested to participate. But we have to limit the number of contestants due to time constraints and for the big prizes at stake,” said Nacua.

Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies and Ensayo supplements care of Mr. Nikki Tsai.

Nacua added that more than to promote any respective gym and fitness establishments, organized bodybuilding competitions must always aim to upgrade bodybuilding as respectable sport.

“For the past years, organized competitions for the sport were a few,” said Nacua.

She together with her husband, Danilo Nacua, proprietor of Oxygen Gym and Bodybuilding Champion, hope that the event will help revive Cebu’s bodybuilding competitions as well as the IFBB-Cebu Chapter.

Athletes who made it to the screening will battle it out through their disciplined physique, the top 5 titles per category in the final round to be held today at the Bella Vista Hotel in Lapu-Lapu City.
