Amid Jolo, Zambo attacks, faithful urged to remain firm in their faith, pray
CEBU CITY, Philippines — “Keep the faith and pray that the groups behind the attacks will ‘cease their evil deeds.’”
Fe Barino, chairperson of the Archdiocese of Cebu’s Commission on the Laity, in a Facebook post, made this call to the faithful, both Catholics and Muslims, amid the bombings in a Jolo cathedral and a Zamboanga mosque.
“Giawhag ko ang mga kaigsoonan kong mga layko dinhi sa Sugbo nga dili kita magpadala sa kahadlok ug magpabilin nga kalma. Hinunoa, hugtan ta ang pag-ampo ug pagsalig sa Ginoo taliwala niining mga dautang panghitabo,” said Barino in her post in her Facebook account.
“Mangaliyupo kita nga ang mga terorista ug kadtong responsable nga napuno sa kalagot ug pagdumot, mohunong na sa ilang yawan-on nga buhat,” she added.
Last Sunday, January 27, over 20 people perished in a twin bombing while a Mass was being celebrated at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Jolo, Sulu.
Shortly past midnight today, January 30, two people were also killed while three others where injured when a grenade was thrown inside a Mahardika mosque in Logoy Diutay, Barangay Talon-talon in Zamboanga City, the Inquirer.net reported.
“Samtang nag-ampo kita alang sa nangamatay ug mga nangaangol, Kristyanos man o Muslim, iapil ta pag-ampo ang atong pangagamhanan nga malamdagan sila sa hustong pamaagi aron masulbad na kining krisis sa atong katilingban karon ug mahatagan ug hustisya ang mga biktima,” Barino said./dbs
