Davao Mayor Sara Duterte: I have no plans on being next Philippine president
LILOAN, Cebu, Philippines—Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said she had no plans of running for president in 2022.
Duterte said this after Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing addressed her as the next President of the Philippines during the sortie of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) at the Sports Complex of Mandaue City on Thursday, March 21.
She, however, claimed that she did not hear the Mandaue mayor address her as such and said that only God would know what plans he had for her in the next few years.
“Let us hope and pray and always seek guidance, so we may know what to do everyday,” said Duterte during a press interview before the HNP Caravan in Liloan town, Cebu on Friday, March 22.
She was also in Liloan town to grace the groundbreaking ceremony of Pier 88, a P1 billion port project of the Topline Group, which was targeted to open in late 2019.

On February, Presidential spokesperson, Salvador Panelo, said that Duterte might follow the footsteps of her father.
Salvador said that such case has precedence with the former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who was the daughter of the late Diosdado Macapagal, and of Former President Benigno Aquino III, who was the son of the late former President Corazon Aquino.
Duterte has long shunned the implications of he running as President on 2022 and said in previous statements that she would decide whether or not to run on 2021./dbs
