Mandaue City, Philippines — A 56-year-old woman was killed after she got run over by a six-wheeler cement mixer truck along MC Briones Street in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City on Thursday night, March 28, 2019.

Police Officer 3 Maximo Moneva of the Mandaue City Police traffic division identified the victim as Arestia Enriquez, a resident of Hermag Village in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

The driver of the mixer truck is Marlon Paradero, 49, from Barangay Rizal,  San Carlos, Negros Occidental.

He will be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

It was later found out that the victim used to be the nanny of Cebu Fourth District Provincial Board Member Sun Shimura and is still presently watching over the board member’s children.

This was confirmed by Marvi Loot Pinos, the daughter of former Police General Vicente Loot, the mayor of Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu. Loot is Shimura’s stepfather.

Based on their initial investigation, Moneva said the driver of the truck, who was tested negative for alcohol, was northbound and on his way to the truck’s garage when the accident happened.

Moneva said the driver of the truck told him he didn’t see the victim crossing from the right side of the street. The victim crossed using the pedestrian lane. /bmjo
