Cebu City, Philippines —Paragsa complicated the upper half of the standings a little further as they downed Journey to Recovery, 66-56, in the Duterte Basketball League on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Capitol Parish Gym.
Former Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcat Nino Batiquin was the catalyst for Paragsa as he scored 29 points while Darius Baguio put up 12 to help the team nab just its third win against five losses.
More than the win, however, was the loss suffered by JTR, which placed them into a tie for second place with the defending champions Lycans at 6-2 (win-loss).
The Lycans cruised to an 86-57 win over the JEPS Merchandise, as JC Escalona and Rexon Moneva proved to be an unstoppable backcourt, with 25 and 24 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, the league-leading H&G Gina Go edged Penthel, 81-78, to boost their unbeaten streak to eight games.
Allan Ger Sala was the man of the hour for the winning team with 38 points.
And finally, the Sherilin Warriors clobbered EVO, 87-48, to gain a share of fourth place with Penthel at 5-3.
Jabby Bautista led the way for the team composed of former University of San Carlos Warriors, with 27 points while Nico Magat added 11. /bmjo
