Sex in exchange for high grades deal lands teacher in jail
CEBU CITY, Philippines– A deal allegedly of sex in exchange for high grades between a male teacher and a 17-year-old male student landed the teacher in jail after he was caught inside the lodging house in Cebu City with the minor student.
The 24-year-old teacher was arrested inside the lodging house in Colon Street with the student at past 9 a.m. on April 22, said Police Captain Armando Labora, Parian Police Precinct or Police Precinct 1 chief, in an interview with CDN Digital.
The teacher, however, denied that anything had happened between him and the student.
He said that they were only talking inside the lodging house when the police barged in.
The teacher told Captain Labora that he brought his Grade 11 student to the lodging house so that the student could give him a massage to rid him of his stress.
Staff Sergeant Ada Jungao of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Parian Police Precinct said that the 17-year-old student had been turned over to his parents after undergoing a medical checkup.
Labora said they went to the lodging house after they received a call informing them that a teacher was inside a lodging house with a minor.
The minor later admitted that something had happened between him and the teacher, which the teacher denied.
Labora said that they had the student undergo a medical checkup, to determine if indeed something had happened between the two of them.
Despite this, Labora said that they would file charges against the teacher for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Child Abuse Law.
The teacher is detained at the Parian Police Precinct pending the filing of charges.| dbs
