Cebuano Calo on Game 5 of MPBL Finals: Hear us Tigers roar
Cebu City, Philippines—With the Davao Occidental Tigers being given a chance to snatch the national title in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) with their incredible come-from-behind victory in Game 4, Cebuano guard Eman Calo vows that the San Juan Knights will hear them roar the loudest come the deciding Game 5 on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
The Tigers prevailed over the Knights in Game 4, 77-66, in a game wherein they trailed by 10, 47-57, early in the fourth canto.
The victory pushed the best-of-five series to a winner-take-all Game 5 over at the Rizal Memorial College Gym in Davao City.
“They were lucky enough to win on our homecourt. But when we make our way back there, we’re going to show everyone just how fierce us Tigers are when playing in front of our fans,” Calo said.
While Billy Robles hogged all the headlines with his remarkable 22-point, 18-rebound outing, Calo was just as pivotal for Davao as he did it all in the final canto where he scored nine of his 10 points.
Although the former University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancer struggled to find the mark, missing all but one of his seven attempts, he made a living from the charity stripe, making eight of 10. He also had five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
Calo relays he was so locked in that he did not pay any mind to the running score.
“I did not feel anything when they went up by 10. I was just focused on helping our team win. I just gave my all, not just in putting points on the board but also just doing the hustle players for our team,” said Calo.
Calo adds that he feels confident that Davao will get the job done in Game 5, even though San Juan has already managed to win on the Tigers home floor. /bmjo
