Governor’s Cup: Consolacion logs crucial win

Cebu City, Philippines—The Consolacion Sarok Weavers made the race for the semifinals a bit more interesting as they clobbered the previously unbeaten Tuburan, 90-76, in the 2019 Governor’s Cup basketball tournament on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Consolacion National High School gym.

The Sarok Weavers of head coach Paul Alelu Flores took care of business on their own home floor to come away with a crucial victory that forced a tie for second place in Bracket B.

Consolacion and Tuburan now hold identical 3-1 win-loss records, a shade behind the undefeated Talisay City (4-0).

Only the top two teams of each bracket at the end of the round-robin quarterfinals will advance to the crossover semifinals.

Keith Padayogdog led the way for Consolacion with 20 points while Raymundo Osabel pitched in 14 markers. 

John Dalumpines added 13, Jessie Bathan notched 11 while John Pepito rounded out the team’s double-digit scorers, with 10.

Joyce Oropiano and Miguelito Jusay had 13 markers apiece for Tuburan. /bmjo
