Cebu City, Philippines—Danao completely obliterated Tudela, 61-35, to move closer to the top of the standings in the 9th Congressman Red Durano Cup basketball tournament on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, in Tudela.
Danao was locked in on defense all-game long, and allowed its opponents a mere 14 markers in the first half to set the tone for the lopsided victory — its seventh in nine games with just one left on its schedule.
Tudela dropped to 2-7.
In the curtain-raiser, Poro wasted a 20-point lead but hung on to edge Catmon in overtime, 65-63.
Poro was already well on its way to getting the easy win but got complacent and allowed Catmon to uncork a 22-6 blast in the fourth to tie things up at 59-all, at the end of regulation.
Poro, however, got its wits about it in the extra session to pull off the heartpounding win that helped the team improve to 3-5.
Catmon, meanwhile, suffered its seventh defeat in nine games. /bmjo
