CV football teams vie for Palaro golds

Cebu City, Philippines—The best of the best in Visayas football will be known Friday afternoon, May 3, 2019 as Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVRAA) and Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) battle for the gold medal in both secondary and elementary football competition of the ongoing Palarong Pambansa in Davao City.

The Central Visayas elementary and secondary football teams advanced to the finals in contrasting fashion.

While the Central Visayas elementary football team banked on strong defense to edge Northern Mindanao, 2-1, and earned a spot in the finials, the Central Visayas secondary football team also barged into the finals after prevailing in a penalty shootout against the National Capital Region (NCR), 5-4, after the regulation match ended in a 1-all stalemate.

The Central Visayas elementary football team is manned by players from the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) with pick-ups from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), Paref Springdale, Looc Elementary School in Lapu-Lapu and St. Paul of Dumaguete.

The Central Visayas secondary football team, on the other hand, is represented by players from the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R), SHS-AdC, University of San Carlos (USC), Abellana National School (ANS) and Don Bosco Boys Home (DBBH).

Scoring goals for the Central Visayas elementary team were DBTC’s Renzo Angelo Enriquez and Paref Springdale’s Ethan Jacob Roxas.

Other members of the team from DBTC are Rhyss Christopher Abao, Lord Daniel Alovera, Rayne Asher Amora, John Lexter Conde, Czar Robert Daanoy, Kurt Justine Barro, Iehron Ezekiele Lao, Allister Louis Manlosa, Mark Anthony Talingting Jr., and Fernando Jayme Pasco; Jared Willy Almendras, James Louiel Comon and Marco Anton Quiblatin of SHS-AdC; Evgene Christian Molleno of Paref Sprindale; David lance Ybañez of Looc and Kenneth Bilocura of Dumaguete.   

Those who scored goals for the Central Visayas secondary football in the penalty shootout were Jascha Tabar of USC; Kenneth Ace Niaga, Dustin Drey Ramirez and Januar James Villarin of DBTC and Delhonor Maglasang of DBBH. Tabar also scored Central Visayas’ lone goal in the regulation.

Other members of the team from USJ-R are Renz Miko Murillo, Christian Vierh Agot, Jan Ian Piolo Alinsugay, Churchill Jubac, Angelo Colina, Louis Adrian Colina, Franco dela Torre, Arcangelo Manlosa, Carmelo Lim and JC Miguel Banzon.

The pick-ups are John Veloso of SHS-AdC, Glen Ladin Dabon of ANS and Junrey Calimposan of DBBH.
