BMO staff nabbed for vote buying in Lorega San Miguel

(Updated 1 p.m.) Cebu City, Philippines—A 66-year-old woman was arrested in Barangay Lorega San Miguel here on Monday morning, May 13, 2019, for allegedly vote buying.

Police Staff Sergeant Rose Ada Jungao from the Parian Police, the arresting officer, identified the suspect as Andrea Fernandez, a resident of Sitio San Miguel.

Fernandez, who claimed she is a staff of the Barangay Mayor’s Office (BMO), was arrested outside the BMO office of the said barangay while police officers were patrolling the area.

Confiscated from the suspect was a list of names of possible voters, a cellphone and cash worth P1,300.

CDN Digital tried to get the side of the suspect but she wouldn’t respond to questions. /bmjo
