Cebu City, PHILIPPINES— Auxiliary Bishop Dennis Villarojo of the Archdiocese of Cebu will be taking on a new mission soon.

He will be assigned as bishop of the Diocese of Malolos in the province of Bulacan, according to Monsignor Joseph Tan, spokesperson of the Archdiocese of Cebu.

“Reassignments are part of being a bishop. This reassignment serves as promotion for him (Villarojo)… from being an auxiliary bishop to a bishop of his own diocese,” Tan told CDN Digital in an interview.

Villarojo learned about the reassignment from the Vatican last May 5 when he went to Rome.

Villarojo was in Rome along with other bishops from the Philippines for the regular meeting with the Pope that happens every five years.

He is still waiting for further instructions as to when he will start as a bishop of the Diocese of Malolos. / with reports from Delta Letigio/ celr
