MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday called on Filipinos to ensure that no dictator will be put in power in view of the 47th anniversary of the declaration of martial law.

Robredo said that under former President Ferdinand Marcos’ regime, 70,000 individuals were jailed, 30,000 were tortured, over 3,000 were killed while hundreds of others vanished and just never found.

Robredo also lamented how those who stepped on thousands of Filipinos’ rights and the country’s freedom, and stole money from public funds are back in power.

The fight however, Robredo said, is not enclosed against one family or one name.
