Did they finally kiss and make up? Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. de los Reyes is confident his relationship with his vice mayor, Romeo Villarante, is headed back to better times after they had a “heart to heart talk” to thresh out their differences.

The mayor said he and Villarante were able to talk things over during the 116th anniversary celebration of the heroism of Cuatro Aliños last Wednesday in barangay Poblacion.

Delos Reyes believes their talk was a sign that they could be in good terms again. He said he was the one who broke the ice.

(I hope to re-establish a good working relationship with the vice mayor for the sake of the city. Let us forget our past issues and start all over. I miss the good times that we had, and I’m glad we are talking again.)

Villarante said he is open to a reconciliation and is willing to listen to the mayor. It is good that officials should have a good relationship to accomplish their goal of improving the city, he said.

Disagreements

City Administrator John Yre de los Reyes is also making an effort to discuss things with the vice mayor. “Gusto gyud kaayo kami nga magkauli ang maayo namong relasyon with the vice mayor. (We really want to patch things up and forget our past disagreements.)

Villarante hopes the gestures are sincere.

Talisay City’s top leaders had tangled on various issues, including the actions of the mayor’s son as city administrator.
