Since its inception, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino’s Wedding Expo has been keeping its audience at the edge of their seats with a highly coveted fashion show every year to culminate its annual bridal fair.
Marking a milestone in the Philippines Fashion industry, we commemorate and look back at last year’s fashion show dubbed “World Class 2018” that featured haute couture bridal collections from the ateliers of five international fashion designers such as Micheal Cinco, Francis Libiran, Furne Amato, Ezra Santos, and Cary Santiago.
Filled with glitz and glamour, the fashion show was a star-studded night as the soiree was flocked by prominent personalities and fashion icons, clad in their designer ensembles.
The backdrop faded into clear view, the show opened with resounding tunes from classic operas, which perfectly synced Micheal Cinco’s breathtaking Swarovski-covered ball gown collection, and noted an impalpable story-telling of royalty and reveries among his collection.
Paying homage to the opulent art deco architecture in the Philippines, Francis Libiran featured an eclectic collection or ornate patterns, imposing his mastery in threadwork matched with overcoats to contrast its patterns.
His collection was capped off by the appearance of Miss International 2016, Kylie Versoza.
Furne Amato brought the audience into a different world, into his surreal artistic existence. A collection described as angels descending from a different world, Amato puts a different drama as he showcased models clad in a gothic-etherial bridal collection.
Simplicity and sophistication, however, puts Ezra Santos on a different pedestal as he emphasized femininity in an intricately embroidered bridal gowns, showcasing how he perfected the art of silhouettes and body-hugging bridal dresses.
The denouement of the show was Cary Santiago, as he fancifully presented his collection in muted tones and bore his signature pleats and thematic embellishments. His magic, a complex manipulation of cloth that resembled birds as if hovering on each models.
Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino’s World Class 2018 brought the Philippine Fashion industry to greater heights.
And now, as Waterfront culminates its 2019 wedding expo, the hotel promises a bigger and grander fashion show that will feature 10 of country’s top wedding designers in a one night show titled “Panumpa: The Promise” on October 5
This will not only bring the country’s fashion industry on even greater heights but will set the bar that local designers can conquer the world. /bmjo
