FIERCE rivals Autolab and San Remegio Properties will face off against one another in the finals of the Elite division of the Indie Basketball Cebu Season 2 after they hurdled their respective opponents in the semifinals last Sunday at the Pope John Seminary XXIII gym in brgy. Mabolo.
Autolab, the reigning champions of this competition, came away with a narrow 78-77 escape over Goldberry Suites while San Remegio edged ASPA, 62-57.
The two squads duke it out for all the marbles on April 27.
Former University of San Carlos gunner Mike Cantonao paced the team managed by Jhundale Singuran with 22 points to offset the 24-point outburst of Goldberry’s Biboy Potencioso.
In the other semis pairing, former University of the Visayas high-flyer Randy dela Pisa scored 16 to lead San Remegio, which handcuffed Aspa’s ace, Marvin Tundag, to a mere eight points.
In the 6-foot Under class, Uratex ousted the erstwhile unbeaten RMA Lycans, 67-62, behind the 29 points of Jerwin Espina to set up a finals showdown with One on One, which defeated SMCCO, 64-55. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
