CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) is now verifying reports about possible movements of the members of a drug-dealing group once headed by self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa around the province.

Police Colonel Roderick Mariano, director of CPPO, told reporters this morning, February 17, 2020, that they will verify the information received by Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, director of Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) on the alleged revival of Espinosa’s group.

“We will collaborate with PDEA and other law enforcement agencies para malaman natin kung talagang bumalik sila (to verify if they are back),” said Mariano.

As of this time, Mariano said they have not yet detected any revival of the group’s illegal activities.

In previous reports, Ferro mentioned that the killers of Police Master Sergeant Maximino Macua Jr., could be members of the Espinosa group.

Macua was killed in a failed buy-bust operation that led to an encounter with the subjects in Barangay Mambaling, last February 11.

Members of Espinosa’s group have been arrested in recent buy-bust operations conducted in Cebu City and the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said some of them confessed to being members of the notorious group. /rcg
