Talisay police arrest youth leader for involvement in illegal drugs
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Guendolyn Luague, the chairwoman of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in Barangay Lawaan III in Talisay City, was expected to help lead the youth away from the influence of illegal drugs.
But on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2020, the 22-year-old Luague was arrested by members of the Talisay City Police, ironically, for her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Luague was arrested together with her father, Francisco, in a buy-bust operation at their home in the same barangay (village). The operation yielded P70,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs.
“Naa man siya (Guendolyn) sa balay unya nakuhaan pod siya og illegal drugs. Upon investigation, (we found that) she was the one collecting the proceeds,” Police Major Gerard Ace Pelare, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, told CDN Digital via phone.
(She was in the house and there was also illegal drugs taken from her. Upon investigation, we found that she was the one collecting the proceeds.)
Francisco, 59, is a former barangay tanod who presently works as a maintenance worker of an establishment.
Pelare said Francisco is believed to be connected with the group of the late Steve Go, a suspected drug lord.
