Disaster-resilient school building to rise in D’bantayan
A three-classroom disaster resilient school building will be built in the Maya National High School in Daanbantayan town from private sector donations.
The P3.45 million school project will replace a school building destroyed by supertyphoon
Yolanda (Haiyan) that hit northern Cebu on Nov. 8, 2013. The amount was donated by Let’s Help Philippines, Christ German Leather Fashion with Pesch Family & Friends and Action Calligaro-Mueller Family & Friends.
The project will be implemented under the School Rehabilitation Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (Rafi).
Elmer Baldespinosa, lead principal for Daanbantayan said it felt good to know that there are still people concerned with helping victims of supertyphoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
Maya National High School Grade 8 teacher, Jahzeel Osabel, stated that she felt “happy and blessed” to be a recipient of the project, especially since it means that the teachers at Maya National High School no longer need to work double shifts with their Grade 7 & 8 as well as their 3rd and 4th year students./UP Intern Gerriane Rizon
