BATCH 1994/The First Family Appliance Circle Corp. cemented its hold of second place with a 71-57 win over Batch 1980s/‘90s-A/Argentina Corned Beef in the 2014 Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 13th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym, Saturday night.
Batch ’94 listed its 10th victory in 12 games, prevailing in a battle between two teams looking to take control of the second place.
Anthony Chua and Stanley Gaw paced Batch ’94 with 17 and 16 points, while Bronson Pena, Wellington Yu and Jason Jao pitched in 12, 11 and 10, respectively.
Batch ‘80s/‘90s-A, which dropped to third place with a 10-3 (win-loss) record, was led by Ryan Mendez and Paul Cabellon, who combined for 27 points.
Batch ‘80s/‘90s-A struggled offensively with Sammy Sia and Joel Chan scoring just nine and eight markers, respectively.
In the other game, defending champion Batch 1995/Gaisano Capital Group cruised its sixth victory in 11 games, beating Batch 2005/PTT Fuels and Lubricants.
