The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) chaired by President Benigno Aquino III approved the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project during a meeting it held in Malacanang yesterday evening.
The NEDA approval would pave the way for the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) to open the bidding for detailed engineering that will identify project specifics and cost.
Detailed engineering of the project will last eight months while actual project implementation will take two years to complete. The BRT system could be operational by 2017.
