Style staples for the ‘it girl’

Summer’s almost over and another school year is about to begin. Put away those board shorts, bikinis and cover-ups for now. But don’t toss those floral prints and pastel colored hues just yet. GAP has unveiled its summer collection that’s oh-so-perfect for our tropical weather, done in different shades of cool, in an all-American cut which the brand is known for. Styles that transcend trends and seasons, these pieces can be paired with pretty much anything in your closet.

GAP embraces that timeless allure of classic, carefree independence and maintains a relaxed, laid-back feel. Rendered in azure, cerulean, indigo, peaches and mints —deliciously understated all—GAP’s apparel fits into any style, their pieces serving as the “signature” of an outfit. Lightweight cotton blazer and tunic button downs paired with boyfriend jeans are the best combination for that first scholastic day look. For a more punk feel, take an oversize stripe pullover in navy blue and white then layer them on top of a classic plaid button down and finish the look off with grungy boots.

Nothing to wear on washday? Take their floral print pants that have room to stretch and a nice cerulean pullover in lightweight cotton. For the weekend group project sessions, try their candy-colored pieces, a candy cane striped button down and mint bermuda shorts. Trends are good but it is better to invest in basic items that you can wear over and over or mix with articles in your wardrobe.
