CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama flew to Manila yesterday to meet with officials of the Department of Transportation and Communications on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The mayor attended a briefing on the BRT project at the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).

“He (Rama) met with Transportation Undersecretary Rene Limcaoco and Transportation Assistant Secretary Jaime Raphael Feliciano who presented the BRT implementation plan,” said Rafael Yap, Cebu City Integrated Traffic Operations Management (Citom) executive director, who was with the mayor.

Rama said he wanted to know what needs to be done after the BRT project was approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) board.

“After I come back, I will hold another press conference on the things to be done for BRT,” the mayor said.

Rama said he also plans to meet award-winning sculptor Eduardo Castrillo in his visit to Manila.

“We will be discussing the monuments which will be our gift when we go to Sabrosa, Portugal for the sister cities (agreement signing),” the mayor said.

Rama is also scheduled to fly to Portugal together with Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Philippe Lhuillier in October to sign the agreement.
