REIGNING champions University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors kicked off the defense of their title in the Passerelle division on a winning note, as they routed the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 75-15, in Group A action of the Milo-backed BEST Center Tournament last Saturday at the Lux Oriens gym of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) in Canduman, Mandaue City.
The writing was splashed on the wall early on as USC raced off to a 28-3 lead after the initial 10 minutes of play, a cushion they expanded to a whopping 42 points, 50-8, at halftime.
Joseph Fontanosa and Louisse Sevilla paced the USC onslaught with 10 points each.
In the other Group A game, the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons got past the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Baby Panthers, 49-36.
In Group B, the hosts SHS-AdC dominated Don Bosco, 58-15.
The Magis Eagles soared in the second period, where they held the Greywolves scoreless while scoring 32 points to open up a 44-6 lead. Lyder Canieso led the winners with 12 points.
